ahhh! its hard to believe that half of my summer is already over :[ im really glad i was able to spend it productively working with elementary kids, especially the 2nd graders. they really taught me a lot.

1. the innocence of childhood. i love how kids just say what is on their mind. its what makes them either cute, or  not so cute. for instance, grace has this really cute girl in her class. during a mad science class, the teacher went around the room letting the kids smell some petroleum jelly like stuff. all the kids said it smelled bad, but she said, "i can't smell it! I have boogers in my nose!" :O its not always easy to speak our minds, there are somethings we ought to say, somethings we ought not to say. but kids dont always know that. its why you never tell them any secrets, because they would just say, "we got a secret for you, but we can't tell you!" but it is also why you know are able to know what they are thinking, because they're just saying what they think. "so-and-so is being a bully!" "she's mean! yeah! we don't like her!"

2. being a true friend. during the final week of summer school, the kids learned what it meant to be a true friend and a good friend. its crazy how the kids apply it. they are able to always find other kids to play with, whether it be from their own class or another class. even when they get into a little conflict and some crying involved,  it doesn't ever take more than 15 minutes for them to get back together and play again. if only adults could be like that after a conflict.

3. guy girl relationships. hahah this one is kind of funny. its funny how they think they will never ever get married or never ever get a boy/girlfriend. malia, this really cute second grader, and i were playing with a fortune teller she made. the answers were yes or no, so i asked her a question, "will malia ever ever get married?!" we went through the whole fortune telling process and finally got to the answer. as she flipped it open, she wouldn't show me the answer, and i knew it was a yes. "I'm not gonna get married!!!" hahaha. yeah right. :P ruth was also telling me about a girl in her class who kissed a boy!! in the middle of signing class!! they're only in first grade too!! oh the things kids do when it comes to love. they are so cute and funnyy.
